They have a Peer Outreach & Family Support Staff who are veterans and military family members. They stand ready and willing to help.

Their 24/7 Helpline is entirely staffed by veterans who have recently served in the military who:  

  •  Have a first hand understanding of the current rigors of the military and military  family life, and transitioning off active duty.
  •  Help individuals find mental health information, support, access, and/or referrals throughout the County of San Diego.
  • Link individuals and families to prevention-oriented services and other mental health resources to help minimize further challenges.

 Note:  I found out about this program while visiting the Veterans Village of San Diego website. They are a great organization helping veterans and their families, with a particular focus on helping homeless veterans.

This is a line where veterans can call and be guaranteed to be talking to another vet. After the phone call is over it does not end, that is when OIF will take their VA cases and pass them on to our network of resources for solving.
